Community Services
The Community Services Division provides extensive community-based programming to support the mission and goals of HealthWays.
The mission of the Community Services Division is to facilitate health improvement efforts by providing expertise, resources, and coordination to our communities.
Our work is led by these Guiding Community Health Principles:
Health should be considered in its broadest sense to include all those determinants of quality of life, not just the present or absence of disease. The community is the level at which efforts to improve quality of life through social, environmental, and policy change is most effective. Community Health is predicated on comprehensive processes of assessment, prioritization, implementation, and evaluation. To be effective, these processes must be collaborative with the broadest community representation and citizen involvement possible.
Priorities:
Rather than setting disease-specific priorities, the Division takes an integrated approach to community health that addresses five priority areas that have broad cross-cutting impacts on health problems and quality of life issues:
1. Youth Development
2. Physical Activity and Community Recreation
3. Family Support
4. Access to Care and Preventive Services
5. Nutrition and Food Security
Additionally, we endeavor to be leaders of best practices in the programming we offer. Our staff experiences an environment where they can grow, contribute their best, and know that their investment in our mission and work is valued and appreciated.
